My children are balls of energy, always on the move. M is good about sitting and reading, N not so much. We can get half a story in and then N is off doing something else or his attention strays. When I need to keep his attention I take a large blanket, roll him up, nice and tight. Before we read him the story I “tickle” the cheese on, then we sit and read. The tight pressure allows him to sit through a whole book, then as a reward he gets to snake his way out of his burrito! We go through this burrito process for two or three books!

I have never tried this one. Well except to give Tristan his nubulizer treatment. I bet this may make bedtime story much more relaxing tonight. Thanks for the idea

Oh I can just imagin his all snug and a bug and listening to a story. We use the burrito wrap for a lot of things like tooth brushing and hair cuts. Frog’s favorite place to hear a story is in the bathtub – he is Frog, after all.

We do this too occasionally, but we call it a hotdog. Danny tells us what toppings to put on and it has evolved into a competition of who can come up with the wackiest hotdog toppings ideas.
Another thing that helps D sit still is sitting on an exercise ball. It takes a lot of energy for them to balance and it works their core muscles and for some reason that seems to help Danny concentrate. In fact, I need to try this again. It has been a while.

I will also keep this in mind since we’re having trouble sitting for stories too! Thanks!
