Being sick is hard for a kid with sensory processing disorder, I have written about it before. Trying to get them to cooperate at the Doctor can be darn near impossible, and if the doctor is so unwilling to care, well it can make you leave the office yelling “I don’t want you touching my kids.” So Dr. Evil if you are reading this here is why you suck….
1. Your CMA was RUDE, why he felt it necessary to yell at my kid,I have no idea.
2. Your impatient face said it all. For the record though I did explain that sensory causes sensitivity, were you not listening.
3. Yes I know my son is five and no he isn’t to old to be held by his mom. If I carry him to the table that is MY choice, don’t tell me, “he is to big to be carried mom.”
4. When I am in the midst of comforting my children, you telling me to stop only makes matters worse. Talking softly helps a two year old, a comforting word gets the job done.
5. After sticking the ear thingy in your ear to show my daughter how cool it is, change the sleeve. No I can’t prove it, I stole a glance at my son, then that stick was in my daughters ears. Unless you have super speed powers you could not have changed that sleeve. Gross!
6. Thank you for giving up and not offering another doctor, a more civilized doctor to help, or a nurse, someone who had a caring bone in their body. Now I have to pay another premium to see our doctor.
I would rather forget yesterday, and I will as soon as I complain to the proper channels. Next time the kids are sick we are only going to our regular doctor, I don’t care who I have to sleep with. I will bring along a copy of this blog with e-mail from N’s O.T. and I am wearing this shirt!

Ohmigosh, are you serious???? Holy crap! That’s horrible. All of it. But especially the part where he put the ear thingy in his ear first. I have to admit: I threw up in my mouth a little when I read that part. GEEEEEROSSS! Ick. Ew.
And he actually told you to stop consoling your kid? And you didn’t kick him in his bits? I’m proud of you. Truly.

Ugh, I’m so sorry you and the kids had to deal with that crap.

Ugh, when I saw your twitter yesterday I was worried. Now I know why. Some people should not be doctors with children. Sorry you had to deal with that.
BTW – I love that cafe press shirt. I think I have something on my list that I can tell hubby I want

What a great post! I am reading your blog with interest; I’ve often suspected my stepson may have some sensory issues and after reading your link, I suspect it even more strongly.
I came here from AllMediocre. =)

Doesn’t it make you wonder how these people became doctors? why do they see kids if they are so completely ignorant of how children tick. These kinds of things are scary for all kids (and many adults) but especially ones with SPD. Geez, for the money they make off us, they should be bending over backwards to be kind to our kids!!

Thank You!!! I am done with our last pediatrician, we are off to see a new one on Friday. My kid had a 104 temp and they wanted to take away her bunny to get weighed, I said no (bunny weighs about 1/4 pound). I too hold my 5 year-old at the doctor’s office, no she is not too big.
