Ten years ago I was introduced to the fun tunes of Barenaked Ladies. With all the melodramatic tunes of the 1990’s Barenaked Ladies was a welcome change. Upbeat rhythms and lyrics and their trademark humor can make anyone happy. I like to think in a way the Barenaked Ladies’ music was the soundtrack of my courtship with my husband. So imagine my surprise when I found out they released a kids album! I ran out and bought the CD the day it came out, which I never do nowadays. Instantly the kids were dancing and singing along to the great beats I have loved for ten years.

Snacktime is a fun upbeat album that you and your kids will both love. Snacktime is is constant rotation in the car, and my children have their favorites, as do I. Nolan, four years old, loves The Ninjas, a funny tune about ninjas who like to vacation in Ireland. Megan, one, can sing along to Popcorn, and I often hear her sing “pop pop pop” even when we are not in the car. Me you ask, I love the song Raisins, and Allergies. Who else can make a Peanut allergies cooler then Barenaked Ladies come on.

The music runs the gambit of rock, bluegrass, pop and some 80’s tech. A little something for everyone, and mommy and daddy too.

So on to the fun, courtesy of bnlmusic.com I am giving away the Snacktime CD and the Snacktime book to five lucky readers! Contest starts today, Monday May 26, 2008 and will end June 8, 2008 10pm CST. I will pick numbers at random and announce the winners June 9, 2008. Just follow the rules below.

ooh, i LOVE BNL. :) how cool that they have a kids’ cd. :)
my favorite food reference is when they talk about prewrapped sausages and how there isn’t prewrapped bacon.
i will definitely tweet about this.

Love BNL and was so thrilled to see that they have a kids album. Our son already loves their Hanukkah songs :)

Love in One Week how so many things are mentioned and you may not notice like: “Like Snickers, guaranteed to satisfy”

So many great references to foods on the new kids album as well.

Off to tweet about this :)

Is it lame to admit I’ve never listened to Barenaked Ladies?

Never heard of them before now. But the CD sounds like alot of fun. I ‘ll say Kraft dinners.

“and we’ll buy all those fancy ketchups, like DIJON ketchup, woohoo” In reference to Kraft Dinner (who puts ketchup on mac and cheese? It must be a Canadian thing.) from “If I had a million dolars” the first BNL song I ever heard before they became my favorite. BTW, they do have pre-wrapped bacon now. I’m thinking royalties are due the band!

    From Stomache Vs. Heat:
“I’d like to sleep in late, but that dessert looks great. Was it something I said or something I ate?” That cracks me up! Love BNL and love Lil Mommy That Could!

I absolutely LOVE BNL and can’t wait to hear their kids CD! I am guessing it rocks – just like they do. My boys love TMBG’s kids album: Here come the ABCs. I just bought their new CD: 1,2,3s for C.’s b-day – I have been dying to open it up and play it! Off to check out BNL…

This is only a semi-food reference, but I have always loved the song, “Life in a Nutshell.” I can only imagine that the kids’ CD is super-fun. Thanks for having the contest!

I have always loved Bare Naked Ladies…their lyrics used to make my sister and I laugh when we were younger, and now they just crack me up!
I think this is best lyric ever!!

“I’d like a stinkin achin shake
I like vanilla, it’s the finest of the flavours”
